If you’re looking for the perfect location for a Nashville engagement session, Centennial Park is hard to beat. Between the iconic Parthenon, beautiful gardens, mature trees, scenic lake views, and winding walking paths, it offers an incredible variety of backdrops without ever needing to leave the park. As a Murfreesboro wedding photographer serving couples throughout Middle Tennessee, I was so excited to photograph Alexia and Adam’s engagement session at one of Nashville’s most recognizable landmarks.

A Nashville Engagement Session Worth Traveling For

Alexia and Adam got engaged, and Alexia booked me as her wedding photographer back in late 2025 for their July 2027 wedding in Indiana, where I’m originally from. When I let her know I would be moving to Murfreesboro, Tennessee (a suburb of Nashville) in early 2026, we knew we’d have to find a time for their engagement photos during one of my trips back home.

Instead, they decided to make a weekend trip to Tennessee since Alexia’s sister has lived and worked in Nashville for years. It became the perfect excuse for a Nashville engagement session at Centennial Park and I couldn’t have been more excited.

This was actually my first time photographing a session at Centennial Park. Although I’d seen countless Pinterest photos and admired sessions from other Murfreesboro wedding photographers, experiencing it in person completely exceeded my expectations.

Centennial Park offers so much variety in one location, making it an ideal choice for couples wanting timeless engagement photos. Whether you’re drawn to elegant architecture, lush greenery, lakeside views or colorful gardens, the park has something for every style.

Of course, the centerpiece of the park is the Parthenon. The world’s only full-scale replica of the original in Athens, Greece. Its towering pillars create a grand yet timeless backdrop that perfectly complemented Alexia and Adam’s excitement as they prepare for their wedding day.

Golden Hour at Centennial Park

The grounds of Centennial Park are beautifully landscaped, giving couples endless options for unique backgrounds throughout their engagement session. We took advantage of the blooming hydrangea bushes, towering mature trees, and perfectly manicured gardens that were in full summer bloom.

We timed our session to begin during golden hour and the soft evening light made everything glow. Sunset is truly my favorite time for engagement photos because of the warm, romantic light it creates, and Centennial Park certainly did not disappoint.

No Centennial Park engagement session would be complete without stopping along the walkways surrounding Lake Watauga.

As the sun began to set, its reflection danced across the water, creating one more stunning backdrop for Alexia and Adam’s photos. The peaceful scenery paired with the joy these two share made every image feel effortless and romantic.

Those quiet moments, walking hand in hand, laughing together, stealing little kisses without any prompting, are always my favorite photographs to capture.

But when your favorite place is wrapped up in another person, the smiles come easier, the laughter is more genuine, and those spontaneous kisses happen naturally. Those are always my favorite moments because they tell your story exactly as it is.
