One of the first things I was introduced to when traveling through Tennessee was the incredible winery scene. Coming from Indiana, where I grew up, wineries weren’t something I had a lot of experience with because there simply weren’t as many nearby options.
Now that I live in Murfreesboro, I love that we are centrally located with so many wineries within an easy drive. Whether you are a Murfreesboro couple, a Nashville couple, or somewhere else in Middle Tennessee, there are so many beautiful places to enjoy a relaxing afternoon or evening together.
When I describe Tennessee wineries to my family back home, they often picture the quiet, serious, upscale wineries you might imagine in Napa Valley. While Tennessee certainly has beautiful vineyards, what makes them unique is the atmosphere.
In Tennessee, live music is a staple and wineries are no exception. Many locations combine wine tasting with outdoor seating, local musicians, food trucks, and a laid-back environment, making them perfect for a casual date night or even a day date.

Arrington Vineyards: A Classic Nashville Winery Date Night
One of our favorite winery date nights has been at Arrington Vineyards, located about 30 minutes west of Murfreesboro and about 30 minutes south of Nashville.
Arrington Vineyards is a popular destination for wine lovers, but it is also a great weekend activity for families, groups of friends and couples looking for something fun to do.
What makes Arrington unique is that the property offers several different areas, each with its own atmosphere.
You can enjoy:
Live bluegrass music near the barn
Jazz and cover singers on the hill
Beautiful vineyard views
Plenty of outdoor seating
Space for a romantic picnic
They do have picnic tables available, but they can fill up quickly, especially on beautiful weekends. Bringing your own blanket or lawn chairs is a great idea if you want to settle into your own cozy spot.
Our Arrington Vineyards Date Night Experience
For our most recent visit, my husband and I chose a picnic table underneath the twinkle lights, a little farther away from the music. It ended up being the perfect spot because we could still enjoy the atmosphere while having plenty of time to talk, eat, and enjoy our wine together.
One thing I love about Arrington is that you can bring your own food. Our typical winery date night meal is grabbing Publix sandwiches or putting together a charcuterie-style spread to enjoy with our wine.
If bringing food isn’t your thing, Arrington also frequently has food trucks available for guests who want something prepared onsite.
For this visit, we started our evening by sharing a half frozen and half traditional wine flight. The frozen wine was the perfect choice for a warm Tennessee evening and honestly made me feel like a kid again enjoying a fun summer treat.
After our flight, we shared a bottle of Sparkle Blanc 2022, a sparkling Sauvignon Blanc that was right up my alley as someone who typically prefers white wine.
Beans Creek Winery: A Hidden Gem Near Manchester, Tennessee
A few weeks later, we enjoyed another winery date night at Beans Creek Winery, located about 30 minutes south of Murfreesboro.
While Arrington Vineyards has a larger destination feel, Beans Creek offers a completely different experience.
Beans Creek feels like a family-owned backyard gathering with incredible live music, friendly faces, and a cozy atmosphere. It has more of a hidden gem feeling and honestly, that’s part of what makes it so special.
Whenever we visit Beans Creek, we always bring a picnic blanket and camping chairs because seating can fill up quickly. They do have picnic tables available, but they are limited.
A Relaxed Evening at Beans Creek Winery
During our visit, we enjoyed a bottle of TN Founder, a dry red wine blend of Chambourcin and Cynthiana created in honor of founder Tom. It is aged first in whiskey barrels and finished in wine barrels, giving it a unique flavor profile.
One of my favorite things about Beans Creek is the atmosphere as the sun sets behind the winery. Listening to cover bands play underneath the string lights while enjoying a glass of wine feels like the perfect Tennessee evening.

One of my favorite things about living in Middle Tennessee has been discovering all of the little places that make this area special.
